Early Basket Hilt 3 [SHARP]
Early Basket Hilt 3 [SHARP]
This Scottish basket-hilted backsword is of an early design, based on several antiques from the mid 1500’s. It is mounted with a sharp backsword blade by Cold Steel.
The hilt is laser sintered stainless steel. The large globular pommel is hollow, and similar in mass to a later period basket hilt pommel. The knucklebow-bar sits in a hole in the pommel, while the side bars sit just outside. Each shield panel sports a carved linework and the long quillions are curved back on themselves.
The grip is covered in rayskin and bound in steel wire. The pommel is secured with a 6mm pommel nut.
The scabbard is black leather with steel fittings, also by Cold Steel.
