This longsword was commissioned as a gift from a husband to his wife upon completion of her doctorate in Military History. The guard is etched with the badge of the 7th Reconnaissance Regiment (Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars), the WW2 company that was the subject of her dissertation. The pommel is etched with their motto "Non nobis sed patriae" —Not for ourselves but for our country.
The blade is a Hanwei/Tinker blunt longsword blade. The guard and ring pommel are stainless steel with faux-gilded etching. The grip is black leather over PETG. The hilt secures with a pommel nut.
