The Phoenix Rises -- [SHARP]
The Phoenix Rises -- [SHARP]
This was a unique and meaningful project.
The commissioner’s late partner (whose name was Phoenix) requested that some of her ashes be made into a gem and set into a sword after she passed. To make that wish a reality, some of her cremated remains were turned into a blue diamond by LifeGem.
In collaboration with the customer and his family, this sword was designed to embrace the phoenix imagery of her name and give the diamond a fitting home.
The guard and pommel are blued steel. The phoenix emblem on the guard is etched brass. The pommel is decorated with faux-gilded etching with the diamond set in one face (silver bezel setting and mounting by Ryan Kolick).
The wide, wickedly sharp blade is by Castille Armory—one of the finest custom blades they’ve made for me. Faux-gilded flame etching decorates both sides.
The grip is solid PETG covered in black leather and bound with brass wire and brass ferrules.
The scabbard is black leather over a wood core with a brass chape.
