Wopper Variant -- Antiqued Hilt [BLUNT]
Wopper Variant -- Antiqued Hilt [BLUNT]
This rapier is based on a piece by early 17th century German sword-maker Clemens Wopper which is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I’ve made more direct replicas, but here I’ve converted the design from a 2-ring hilt with a counterguard to a symmetrical 3-ring hilt with both front and rear quillions.
The guard is formed of delicate hexagonal bars with large twisted ball details . The pommel is partially hollow and features the same design motif. It secures with a pommel nut.
The hilt is laser sintered stainless steel with an antiqued gray finish.
The blade is a 38” modified Hanwei Practical rapier blade for stage combat.
The grip is solid PETG wrapped in brown leather lace.
Overall weight is 2.6 lbs, and the POB is +4" in front of the quillions. The sword is 44.5" long overall.
Optional scabbard is black leather with white brass fittings.
