This sword is the third Schiavona I’ve built based on an antique piece that Bill Grandy very generously lent me so that I could take measurements and make a pattern. Bill has a terrific writeup on his antique HERE, along with a ton of high quality photos.
My replica handles very similarly to the original, thanks to the slim triple-fullered sharp broadsword blade from Armour Class. This blade is very thin in the foible, much like the antique.
The hilt is mild steel with a thumb ring, as per the original. The carved grip is wrapped in stingray skin and steel wire. The pommel is 3D printed in bronze-infused stainless steel.
The hilt secures with a pommel nut threaded 6x1 mm.
