This Schiavona’s design is taken from one antique, while the dimensions are based on a different antique piece that Bill Grandy very generously lent me so that I could take measurements and make a pattern. Bill has a terrific writeup on his antique HERE, along with a ton of high quality photos.
The blade is a sharp Hanwei/Tinker bastard blade, which makes for a robust single handed sword.
The hilt is mild steel with a thumb ring. The carved grip is wrapped in rayskin and twisted brass wire. The pommel is cast in solid brass.
The hilt secures with a pommel nut threaded 6x1 mm.
