Schiavona hilts with curved blades are rare, but not unheard of. The hilt of this one is based on an antique piece that Bill Grandy very generously lent me so that I could take measurements and make a pattern. Bill has a terrific writeup on his antique HERE, along with a ton of high quality photos.

I’ve mounted this one with a sharp Cold Steel saber blade, which has a deep curvature and a broad fuller.

The hilt is all mild steel with a thumb ring, as per the original. The carved grip is wrapped in stingray skin and brass wire. The pommel is cast brass.

The hilt secures with a pommel nut threaded 6x1mm
