Narrow Leather Rapier Scabbard - Black

$100.00

These scabbards are made for me by Universal Swords. They are built from heavy black leather with a hand-stitched seam. The fittings are white brass. They are fairly rigid, but flex a bit when empty.

They were designed to fit Hanwei’s Practical Rapier Blade—this is the narrower Hanwei rapier blade, not the wider one that comes with a nail-tip. They should accommodate a blade up to 0.85” wide and a bit over .25” thick, and up to 37.5” long. That should include many schalger, diamond schlager, and other narrow rapier blades. The only blade I can guarantee will fit is the Hanwei, but if you have questions feel free to shoot me an email.

I can ship this scabbard at its full length with the fittings glued on, or I can send it with loose fittings so you can trim it for a shorter blade. It’s always best to trim it from the throat-end, not from the tip.

If you plan to trim it and glue the fittings yourself, I recommend using 5-minute epoxy. Apply a small amount of glue to the inside of the metal fitting (not to the leather itself), and then immediately slide on the fitting so it’s fully seated. Have a few q-tips handy in case some of the glue squeezes out into the mouth of the scabbard. You can easily wipe out any glue with a couple swipes of a q-tip. Rubbing alcohol is good for cleaning up any excess epoxy residue, but be careful not to spoil the finish on the leather. Don’t stick a sword in until the glue is fully dry.
