Welcome to the new home of Jacob’s Armory! Jacob’s founder Joel Mason has retired, but his terrific inventory of smallsword hilts is available here at Jesse Belsky Stageswords.

Each hilt set is composed of multiple individual components cast from an antique weapon. The highly detailed sets are cast and finished by a commercial jewelry foundry in Scotland, and are available in Brass, Yellow Bronze, German Silver, White Bronze, or Sterling Silver.

White bronze and German Silver can have a somewhat bronze-y cast—if you want a really white metal, go for the Sterling Silver. Color can vary slightly from pour to pour depending on the exact mix of metals the foundry uses. All the individual pieces of a set should be the same color, but color might vary from order to order. Brass is probably the most durable option, as it is the softest. Bronze, German Silver and Sterling Silver are harder metals, but that can make them somewhat more brittle.

The pieces are de-sprued and shot-polished but may require substantial adjustment to be fitted to the blade of your choice. They are NOT designed to simply pop onto an epee blade. These castings, like the originals, are somewhat delicate and can break if you are not careful with them during modification and fitting. I recommend these fittings for the experienced DIY crafter only. Replacement parts can be ordered individually in the case of a breakage. Please contact me for details.

Please also be aware these fittings are not kept in stock—when you place an order here on the website, I will bundle it with other orders and place an order with the foundry at the end of each month. Time to delivery can vary quite a bit depending on how busy the foundry is, but 1-2 months is typical. You will receive an email notification when I ship the set to you.
