Scottish Basket Hilt 3
Scottish Basket Hilt 3
This is a recreation of an antique basket that caught my customer’s eye. From the commissioner: “There has never been a sword attributable to Lord George Murray, Prince Charles' Lt. General during most of the '45. After escaping Scotland, Ld George eventually wound up in the Low Countries. This sword has a history linking it to Holland. Note the unusual star motif on the main guard. The five-pointed star was the crest of the Murray family. Probably just simple coincidence, but Jesse and I have been referring to this sword as the "Murray" sword since the beginning of the project. The point of the commission was to have a sword honoring Ld George...and this is the result. The original was sold by Alban Arms.”
The hilt is steel with a PETG grip covered in gray/green rayskin and wound with 3 strands of steel wire, finished with steel ferrules.
It’s mounted with a wide double fullered blade from Fulvio Del Tin. The pommel is threaded 3/8-16.
