Donnachaidh Clan Basket Hilt [SHARP]
This sword is based on an antique original that features the Clan MacTavish crest on both sides of the unusually designed basket. A member of Clan Donnachaidh saw my re-creation of that sword and requested a similar weapon featuring the Donnachaidh crest. Each face is etched with a hand holding aloft a crown surrounded by a circular garter element with the clan motto VIRTUTIS GLORIA MERCES (glory is the reward for valor).
My version is mounted with an extremely nimble two-fullered backsword blade from Armour Class. This blade is very thin in the foible, much like many original blades.
The steel hilt is electroplated in brass and lined with a red wool basket liner. The carved grip is wrapped in red stingray skin and brass wire with scalloped brass ferrules. The pommel is threaded 3/8-16.
