MacTavish Clan Basket Hilt [SHARP]
This sword is based on an antique original and features the Clan MacTavish crest on both sides of the unusually designed basket. Each face is etched with a boar’s head surrounded by a circular garter element, and the clan motto NON OBLITUS is split between them. It’s made here in a fairly generous size to accommodate the owners large hands.
The original features some silver inlay which the comissioner chose to forgo (which is good because I don’t know how to do silver inlay….). It also has a red basket liner, which is not included on this re-creation.
My version is mounted with an extremely nimble two-fullered backsword blade from Armour Class. This blade is very thin in the foible, much like many original blades.
The carved grip is wrapped in stingray skin and steel wire with scalloped steel ferrules. The pommel is threaded 3/8-16.
