Scots Lowland Parrying Dagger 1
Scots Lowland Parrying Dagger 1
This left-hand dagger is based on an antique piece sold at auction (see last photos). The basket portion extends from a more traditionally formed side-ring parrying dagger with a pierced plate filling the ring. It sports a deliberately asymmetrical bar arrangement, and the basket attaches to the pommel with a screw.
I’ve done my best to replicate the wide, sharply ridged blade of the original. This blade style is seen on a number of Scottish daggers from the period. For my re-creation, I reground an imported diamond-sectioned blade to create the pronounced spine. The 13.5” blade is sharp with a reinforced point.
The grip is solid PETG covered in brown leather with a brass wire wrap. The hilt secures with a pommel nut threaded 6x1mm.
Weight: 1.4 lbs
Overall Length: 18.5”
Blade Length: 13.5”
POB: Just in front of the guard
The scabbard is two layers of leather with a steel chape.
