This rapier is inspired by a fairly well know sword in the Kunsthistoriches Museum in Vienna. The original is plated in gold and completely covered in fine etching, so this sword is very much a simplification. The original has what appears to be a metal grip detailed like the rest of the hilt, but I’ve used blackened and polished maple.
The blade is 35" with a stage combat ready edge and weighs in at exactly 2 lbs. The balance point is right in front of the hilt. The faceted pommel is keyed to the tang to prevent rotation, and is secured with a custom one-piece nut.
