This sidesword is the first of what will hopefully be many collaborations with bladesmith Nicholas Cochiolo.
He did a lovely job on this strongly tapered military-style sidesword blade--enough heft for decisive cutting, but definitely built for the thrust. The blade is 80CRV2 steel.
I've mounted it on a 4-ring hilt with up/down curving quillions. Everything is hexagonally faceted with beaded details on the rings and quillion tips. The guard and pommel are 316L stainless steel.
The grip is PETG covered in white leather and bound with steel wire. The hollow pommel secures with a 6mm pommel nut. The scabbard is brown leather over a wood core.
