English Hilt Rapier & Dagger 4 [SHARP]
English Hilt Rapier & Dagger 4 [SHARP]
This is my fourth take on a magnificent 17th century English rapier hilt in the Wallace Collection, A597, with some details borrowed from A596. I've made a matching dagger to keep it company.
The rapier is mounted with a 38" sharp rapier blade by Darkwood Armory. It weighs 2.5 lbs. and balances 3.5" in front of the quillions. Overall length is 44". Though quite large, the pommel is partially hollow to reduce weight and keep the balance within acceptable parameters.
The dagger blade is 12" long, also sharp. Overall length is 17.5" and weighs just over 1 lb.
The guards and pommels of both weapons are blued steel with decorative etching. The etched designs have been faux gilded with bronze powder. The grips are solid PETG wrapped in black and bronze wire with turk’s head knots. The pommels are threaded 6mm metric.
Both weapons have black leather-covered scabbards with flexible cores and brass fittings.
