Hermitage Rapier

$0.00

This rapier is based on a 17th century German piece in the Hermitage in Russia, about which I know very little (see last picture).  The original is covered all over in minute engraving, including on the metal grip and false ricasso.  My interpretation is much simplified.

The hilt is cold blued steel and is mounted with a 41.5" Hanwei Practice Rapier blade with a nail tip. If you don't do HEMA and want a sharp looking tip for stage combat, just let me know.  The blade can also be shortened at your request.

It has a thumb ring which is quite comfortable in the hand.

The grip is hardwood wrapped in wire. The pommel is keyed to the tang to prevent rotation and is held on with a recessed pommel nut, threaded 6x1mm.

Overall weight is 2.7 lbs, and the POB is about 1.5" in front of the guard. The sword is 48" long overall.
