Aluminum Ballet Macbeth
Aluminum Ballet Macbeth
This has been my largest custom order to date -- a set of 13 swords, 5 axes, 3 daggers and 1 "chopper" for the Carolina Ballet's production of Macbeth. All the weapons are made from lightweight 7075-T6 Aluminum. The swords are fairly short to accommodate 16+ combatants on stage at the same time.
The sword hilts are all steel, some blued, some brass plated, some left plain. Most of the pommels screw on to a threaded steel rod that's pinned to the aluminum tang. The wheel pommels are sloted to a rectangular pinned tang and then secured with a 6mm recessed hex nut. For more information on these attachment methods, CLICK HERE.
Most of the axes are hickory hafts with the blade section bolted into place with special hardware. Two are "full tang" with lightweight poplar scales pinned to the haft section to create a more robust design that can meet sword blades metal to metal.
The daggers are all secured with pommel nuts, and the Chopper has its tang pinned into the wooden grip.
