~Film, TV & Fiction Inspired Weapons~
All the projects on this page were inspired by weapons from movies, tv or other forms of fiction.
A blunt stunt-worthy Duncan Macleod Highlander katana. This sword has a 1/4” 7075-T6 Aluminum blade with a full-thickness rounded edge (i.e. no bevel). Most uniquely, however, is the dragon tsuka (handle), which is made from 3D-printed aluminum. This enables a compression mounting with a recessed hex nut hidden in the dragon’s nose. That in turn means the sword rings when struck, which isn’t usually the case with resin handles.
The aluminum gip is treated with stain to bring out the details and sealed with polyurethane sealer.
The rooster tsuba is stainless steel.

A pair of Highlander-inspired Katanas. One like Duncan’s and one like Connor’s. Each blade is made from 7075-T6 aluminum. The tsubas are commercially made castings, and the handles are heavy duty resin. The tangs extend nearly the full length of the tsuka and are bedded in epoxy. These are extremely solid assemblies, but do not ring cleanly.

This is inspired by the weapon wielded by Kronos in Highlander: The Series (designed by F. Braun McAsh). It’s quite a big sword, 45.25” long overall, and weighing 3.65 lbs. The blade is made from 1/4” 7075-T6 Aluminum. The guard and pommel are steel, and the grip is PETG covered in leather. The pommel is threaded 3/8-16 and attaches to a threaded steel rod pinned to the aluminum tang. For more information on this attachment method, CLICK HERE.
This sword was inspired by Jacob Kell’s sword from the film Highlander: Endgame created by Tony Swatton. The film sword is sometimes a single handed sword and sometimes a two handed sword, depending on the scene. This is sort of an in-between interpretation, with room for two hands on the grip but still easily wielded with one hand. In the movie, something indecipherable is etched on the rainguard. I’ve decided to go with “There Can Be Only One”, for obvious reasons.
The 33” long blade is made from 7075-T6 aluminum. The guard and pommel are steel, and the grip is PETG covered in black leather with twisted steel wire. Small crosses are soldered to each face of the pommel. The hilt secures via a recessed pommel nut to a threaded steel rod pinned to the aluminum tang. This HEMA practice sword is modeled on Zorro’s sword from the film “The Mask of Zorro”. I built it for a customer who had already bought a fully detailed Zorro replica sword with a Darkwood blade, but decided it was too pretty to fence with. So this version is pared back without decorative etching. It is also made from slightly heaver stock to put up with full contact sparring.
The practice version is also mounted with a Darkwood blade, in this case their Spadroon trainer, modified to eliminate the ricasso and leave a 31” blade.
The hilt is mild steel. The shell hilt is made of a 13 ga. steel. The pommel is threaded 6mm metric. Grip is PETG covered in black leather.

Inspired by Elena’s sword from the classic swashbuckling film The Mask of Zorro with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones. The original movie prop was made by Tony Swatton. This sword design is inspired by the weapons in the film First Knight starring Sean Connery and Richard Gere. King Arthur and his knights all wield distinctive single-handed broadswords.
